Institute of Management Studies (IMS), Ghaziabad recently celebrated 25 years of excellence in imparting technical and management education and contributing in human development index. On the eve of celebrating its silver jubilee year, IMS organized MELANGE, an Inter Collegiate Annual Cultural Festival. Chairman OIA, Ambassador V B Soni was the "Chief Guest" on the occasion on September 30, 2014.
Director of the Institute Dr. UrvashiMakkar and Managing trustee Shri Rakesh Chharia welcomed Ambassador V. B. Soni, Chairman, OIA as the Chief Guest on the eve of the two day annual festival. Other Guests running into hundreds from academia and corporate world were also part of this glittering gathering.
The theme of the address at the function chosen by Ambassador Soni was: "Globalisation: What It Means for Developing Countries like India".
He said that globalization has brought in new opportunities to developing countries, greater access to developed market and technology transfer, holding out promises of improved productivity and higher living standards. But globalization has also thrown up new challenges like growing inequalities across and within nations, volatility in financial market and environmental deteriorations.
Ambassador Soni brought out that process of globalization not only includes opening up of world trade, development of advanced means of communication, internationalization of financial markets, growing importance of MNC's, population migrations and more generally increased mobility of persons, good, capital, data and ideas but also infections, diseases and pollution.
His speech brought standing ovation from the crowd and was widely appreciated by all.
Multi-cultural festival held every year at IMS has been providing a common platform to the students all over the country to display their creativity, talent and enthusiasm for the last 25 years. The festival includes activities and events in the categories of Music, Arts, Dance, Skit, Rangoli, Photography, Fashion, Quiz, Battle of Bands and many more. Students of IMS Ghaziabad Group of Institutions and more than 150 teams from 60 Institutes/Universities like Delhi University, IP University, Amity University, Aligarh Muslim University, Galgotia University, ManavRachna University and many more comprising of more than 1000 participants participated in 2 days event.
